CLUB PRIZEWINNERS 2009-2010 On 15th March 2010, Shona Wallace of the University of the West of Scotland presented the prizes for the Club's annual film-making competition. This photo shows some of the winners. CLUB WINS AYRSHIRE TROPHY - AGAIN!
In November 2009, the Club was successful - again! - in winning the Ayrshire Interclub Competition. This time, it won with with a short commedy called "The Cat of the Endurance", written by Bob Galloway (front row, second from the left). JANE REPEATS WALTER'S SUCCESS!![]() One year after Walter's sucess in winning the Loudon Salver, Jane Seymour achieved the same feat, this time winning with her much-admired film, "When Our Madeleine Came To Stay". She is shown (right) receiving her prize from the President of the Scottish Association of Moviemakers, Pat Menmuir, in May 2009. WALTER BRINGS HOME THE SILVERWARE!
In May 2008, our Club President, Walter Smith, won a prize from the Scottish Association of Moviemakers (SAM). He is seen here being presented with the Loundon Salver for the best Novice entry, "The Strip", a short film that Walter made when he was on holiday in Las Vegas. The presentation was made during SAM's AGM at its popular venue in Alva by the retiring Secretary, Mrs Dorothy Borrie, FACI. CLUB WINS AYRSHIRE TROPHY!In Ayr on Thursday 22nd November 2007, Austin Kelly of the Largs Videomakers Club won the Simpson Trophy in the Ayrshire inter-club competition with his film, "Tones of Tuscany". He is seen here receiving the trophy from Walter Smith, President of the Largs Videomakers Club. The Trophy has been held previously by the Largs group for winning films in 2001 and 2004. The 9th July 2007 was a memorable day for Largs Videomakers member Jim Muldoon. To enhance his hobby, Jim has had built a video studio in his back garden. It contains not only all his editing equipment but also a viewing area seating very comfortably in upholstered chairs, in excess of a dozen people. He is able to project his finished videos onto a large screen. Walter Smith, President of Largs Videomakers' Club, cut the banner at the entrance to mark the official opening of the studio. CLUB WINS NATIONAL COMPETITION!
A group from Largs Videomakers, led by Austin Kelly, came out tops in The Scottish Association of Moviemakers 5 Minute Film competition, recently held in Alva. The video, "Another God Given Day", combined spectacular scenes of the beautiful Largs countryside and shores, with the wonderful music of local choir, "Variations". Well done, Austin and team! Austin (right) receives the "Murdoch Quaich" from John Gibbs, Chairman of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers. PRIZE FOR NEIL!
It's true what they say, "success breeds success", and another member walks away with the silverware! This time it was a solo effort by Neil Stuart. His video, "The Clyde", won first prize in the Novice Competition, run by the Scottish Association of Moviemakers.
